Team of Rivals by Doris Kearns Goodwin

I'll just wrote an email to the author and I wanted to share it with my friends and family. I'll write some more about this as I find time, but I can think of better post to get on the site quickly.

I just finished your book, Team of Rivals.

I don't normally read history books, and certainly don't often make the time to read such long books. I just wanted to thank you for holding my attention and my interest. I find myself reading more about Lincoln now that I've finished the book. I think it's because the book was a group biography that I'm now more curious about the man himself.

It gives me an enormous amount of faith on the character and heart of our country to know that such a man can become President and do so well at it, especially against such critical and enormous challenges.

I was reading "The Presidential Chin-Fly" story from "Lincoln's Yarns and Stories" tonight and I enjoyed that I knew it was about Salmon Chase despite the omission of Mr. Chase's name from the story.

Thank you for your book, and your commitment to your passion for history. It's made me see our country through completely new eyes. I'll never look at the Lincoln Memorial the same way again.

Kind Regards,

Larry Cummings
