Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of engagements do you take on?
Remote, part-time, or project-based Operational Excellence consulting — from short diagnostics to ongoing advisory work. I run this through my independent consulting practice (LLC).
What industries have you worked in?
Fortune 500 companies, public sector organizations, nonprofits, startups, and small businesses, of all sizes. My focus is the pattern — where a process, tool, or metric has stopped delivering what it promised — more than any single industry.
Do you do hands-on implementation, or just advisory work?
Both, depending on the engagement. Some work is pure diagnostic and advisory; the Team Collaboration Systems work is hands-on implementation and training. Whichever it is, part of every engagement includes documentation and enablement so your team can carry the work forward without me.
What's involved in a typical engagement?
Every engagement is different, but most follow a similar pattern:
- Discovery: Understanding what's supposed to be happening, and where the stories about what's actually happening diverge
- Diagnosis: Finding where the gap is — and what's actually driving it, not just the symptom
- Recommendation: A clear, written assessment of what's misaligned and what to do about it
- Implementation (if scoped in): Doing the work — realigning incentives, rolling out systems, rebuilding agreements
- Follow-through: Checking that the fix held, and adjusting as needed
How long do engagements typically take?
It depends on the type of work. An Operations & Process Diagnostic is typically 1-2 weeks. Metrics & Incentive Alignment tends to be an ongoing, part-time advisory relationship, since incentive changes need a few cycles to test and adjust. Team Collaboration Systems work is project-based, scoped to the systems and handoff involved.
What if we're not sure which service is the right fit?
That's exactly where I can help most. Often the clearest starting point is the diagnostic — understanding where the gap actually is before committing to a bigger fix. We'll work together to figure out what's actually needed, rather than starting from a predetermined solution.
